“Truth is what every man needs in order to live, but can obtain or purchase from no one. Each man must reproduce it for himself from within, otherwise he must perish. Life without truth is not possible. Truth is perhaps life itself.” -Franz Kafka
Are you a truthful person?
Many people, including myself, have told many lies over the course of their life
Sometimes they are said in order to help yourself
Other times in order to protect others
But everyone has done it at one point in their lives
Surely even George Washington told a few lies in his lifetime
Telling the truth, or even more importantly, acting truthful, is one of the most powerful and difficult concepts for people to accomplish in this day in age
I want to show you how living a life and truth are one in the same, and how living your life with truthfulness can shape your life, and the lives of those around you, in a positive and profound way
Many figureheads who have helped society for the better lived lives of truth
MLK, Gandhi, Mother Teresa, all lived lives of truth
It’s not that they never lied, I guaranteed all of them did at some point, but rather their lives lived to a standard of personal truth
Does this mean that you need to save the world to live a life of truth?
Of course not
A life a truth simply means that you live your life while upholding your most regarded standards
Every figurehead, or even amazing person that has existed has lived their life by a set of values
They lived a life of truth
And even if someones life isn’t constantly guided by their core values, they constantly influences our every action and thought
But when you live up to your standards, your truths, you live a deeper and more meaningful life
Every action you take is significant and powerful because it is coming from a place of honesty and integrity
Everyone has standards for their lives, beliefs, ideals, and guidelines for what they believe are most important to them
Honesty, integrity, loyalty, love, passion
These are just some examples, and every one of these values combined is truth in its entirety
In order to do this you simply need to act, think, and feel with what you believe to be is the right thing to do
Live your life in alignment with what you truly believe in, that is living a life of truth
When you do this you feel more alive than I can describe
You feel alive because you know you are living your life to the highest degree, a level of truth that is unsurpassed by anything you can experience on this planet
You act with in accordance with what you believe to be true, and it may not always be the “right”, safe, or normal choice of action, but it is truthful because you believe it is the only real action that needs to be taken
For example
Say you are given an opportunity to make a major career change in a new location far away from where you currently live
It pays better
It has better benefits
And most importantly, you love the idea of it
Then you begin to second guess yourself
But all my friends live here
I don’t think I can afford to move
How in God’s name will I get my cat over there? He HATES CARS
The point is that you will come up with a million reasons why and why not you should do anything in your life
But on a deeper level you already know what the right choice is
That choice may not be the easy one, and it often times isn’t, but it’s the choice you know you should make
Making this choice is living your life with truth
When you decide to take that job offer in a far away land, you are following through with right action, and it will feel amazing despite all the logistical issues you may encounter
From a simple conversation among colleges, to making a major career change, you must follow through every action with the highest level of truth
Every decision and action you take with truth as your highest authority will make your life more amazing, because you are acting in accordance with what you KNOW to be true
That is a life of truth
I think alot of people or should I say personalities today, because of there ego, covers up there truthfulness to some people. Its like this glass wall that is up between you and them. When somebody is not being truthful with you, you can smell it. It’s not till somebody lets there guard down and really opens up, thats when they start speaking from a place of truth, and its not filtered through some egoic self image… just some thoughts
I agree with you Gabriel. When you don’t live “your truth,” life is exhausting. And if you deny “your truth” too much, and for too long, it becomes very hard to feel alive.
